About [metanews]

about [metanews]
[metanews] was founded by Scott Lewis in 2007. After five years developing software for a small company that was acquired by LexisNexis Group, Scott decided the best use of his experience in the information industry would be to go out and develop some of the software he thought information industry customers really needed.

[metanews] is located in Melbourne, Australia (though Scott is originally from San Francisco, USA [go niners]).

OK, so why the [ ] in [metanews] ?
Scott suffers from a not too-rare geek condition known as "language snobbery". This means that he prefers to work in only a fairly narrow band of languages, which at the moment includes SmallTalk on Windows and Objective-C/Cocoa on the Macintosh (and Lisp, but that's another story). Both Smalltalk and Obj-C use the "[ ]" as a primary part of the language mark-up.

(Maybe that doesn't really explain anything. But Scott thinks it does -- and that does explain something!)
